Kanye West debuted his first collection from his new line Dw. I'm interested in hearing your feedback! I personally really like the design of the shoes! I was disappointed not to see Sessilee Lopez, Lakshmi Menon, or Agnyess Deyn on the runway. For some reason I thought they would be great faces for his collection... especially Lakshmi. As for the clothes... I think it was a great first attempt at a good collection. My favorite would have to be the last photo (on the left)... as this look screams a female version of Kanye. Only thing missing from that look was some type of fur.
The missing link overall is the BRAND. Clothes are clothes... I want a brand. And not a cheesy department store brand (which he very successfully stayed away from) but a solid point of view.
If I was going to buy Dw... I want the female version of Kanye's style. Not 'what girls would wear to a club' or 'what girls would wear downtown' or 'everyday girls'.... I want "Kanye Swag in a Skirt"....which should be the brand angle. ...And thats why the last photo on the left was my favorite look of the collection.

The white boots are gorgeous, although I´m not really sure if I could pull them off other than in for photos. :)
ReplyDeleteI love Kanye West. I do, but I loathed this collection. It did not look fashion forward to me at all. I wish he would've just designed a menswear capsule and called it a day. The looks are over-designed and the deep plunging necklines are an eyesore.
