Minx

The latest crave that we have all joined into are the Minx. So what are Minx? Minx are nail stickers that adhere to your nails. You can choose basic colors or opt for something fun and funky. The benefit is that the Minx last for about 2 weeks. Most places have salons that offer the new craze, lemme know how they look.

Get in Tune

I love Janelle Monae's new direction (or maybe it was her old one because I wasn't paying attention). Sorry if I'm late but to be honest the first time around, I got bored after 2 bow ties. I loved the imaging but it didn't transition fast enough. Anyway, I am feeling this new CD she has. Its called "The Arch Android"... even the title is hot. I'm sold. I don't know much about her, but something tells me she was an Outkast fan and I love how she evolved into her own genre. Two thumbs up. I hope her style really amps up for this album. I want to see heels, two puffs parted down the middle, Noisette style dresses, the signature bow tie every now and then, a red lip... girl just bring it!

Fresh Face- Ajak

Ajak became an overnight senstaion. She was once a Sudanese refugee and soon became a model in Australia. Her journey to New York led to her sign with IMG in 2009. By 2010 she was a breakthrough model, on the runways of Givenchy, Gaultier and Lanvin (to name a few). You may notice her as the face of Benetton. I'm excited to see what Ajak does next. I will keep you posted.

Clown or Crown?

Here is Henrik Vibskov's new collection for men. He gives a guys a little flavor by added color blocks to their looks. One feature that he consistently displays throughout the collection are these unique shoes. So the question is... crown or clown? I personally think this is an outstanding display of high street style for men. Once the soho kids drop the Billionaire Boys Club bright colors and male glitter, whats next for them? A stiff suit and tie may be too severe for them to explore. But with Vibskov's new looks for men, it should be an easy transistion into something completely pulled together with tons of personality. The pieces in this collection have tons of versatility. Crown.

Flashback Iconic- Tony and Joyce

These are the greatest parents in the world. I want to take the time to honor my mother and father, Joyce and Anthony. They have always supported my every step and have been so proud of my every move. I appreciate their continued love and support. They have full knowledge and respect of who I am as a person. Unfortunately the greatest man who ever lived died last week at the age of 60, and I am so honored that I can call him my father. He never missed a game, fashion show or play. He was the best father anyone can ask for. And for that, I take the time to dedicate my blog and all my endeavours to his life. I vow to live life to the fullest so that his legacy can be GREAT. Thank you Mom and Dad for all of your guidance.

The Scent of Womanity

Thierry Mugler came out with a new fragrance called Womanity. The bottle is super cute! If you don't know who Thierry is, he is the designer behind the 'I Am Sasha Fierce' tour. I haven't had a chance to take a wiff, but I have a feeling the scent of Womanity is a good one. Try it out.

Contrast- YSL Color Roulette

This is YSL's new take on the french manicure. They will sell nail polishes in tandem so you can achieve the look with the perfect hues. Obviously you can use any nail polish brand. The point is to use rich colors and mix and match. Link purple with blue, red with orange, yellow with green. My main suggestion is to go to a salon to get it done, because if its not executed properly it can come out very very tacky. Shout out to the women at Highsnobette who spotted this first... great post ladies.

Movie Night- The Karate Kid

Wondering what to do this weekend? Go check out Jayden Smith in The Karate Kid. Jayden teams up with Jackie Chan in this classic remake. As you must know by now, Jayden is the adorable son of Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith. Aren't you curious as to where they will push Willow? She obvious has great style (did you see her Rihanna inspired hairstyle?). Maybe she will be a future guest on MosaMuse.

Rotten Tomatoes

I like the way Steven Klein created the video- specifically loving the scenes where Gaga is in a white haze while everyone else is not. The cinematography was great. And you guys know I love Steven Klein. Here it comes... BUT... I wasn't feeling the story line. And let me just say this... I'm over men in louboutins. Can girls ever have any eye candy? I prefer a man in combat boots. The whole gay vs. church theme is whack. Hate goes both ways. I just wasn't feeling the message. But I guess its needed for attention?... Anyway, on top of it the costumes looked cheap. The gun bra had no business in a scene where she is dancing. It should have been used for a still to refrain from its utter cheapness. And she looked too washed out. Gaga can't pull off a natural look and that's why she is marketed the way she is. Most people can't pull off over the top, and that's what makes her sensation. I'm sorry, but it just wasn't visually pleasing. I know this is a shocking post considering I'm a Gaga and Klein fan, but this just didn't do it for me.

Pixels- Mert and Marcus

Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot are one of the most sought after photographers in the industry. They were both born the same year, 1971, and met in 1994 working in the photography business. They got their big break with a 'Dazed and Confused' cover. Mert and Marcus now work for Vogue, Pop, and Numero Magazine (among others) and their top clients include Louis Vuitton, Missoni, Georgio Armani and Roberto Cavalli. Mert and Marcus say what separates them from other photographers is that they spend a lot of time in the hair/make up and wardrobe rooms making sure that the imaging is up to their standard and is consistent with their vision. Thumbs up.

Contrast- The Old Renewal

Romare Bearden was an African-American artist who specialized in cartoons, oils and collage. His collages depict the progression of African Americans. He often talked about how when something is taken out of its usual context and put into another form that it has a completely different feel to it. You can check out more of his work at the MoMA.

Fresh Face- Malu Ribeiro

New Model Alert- Malu Ribeiro! Malu Ribeiro signed with Women this year and debuted at Rodarte's fashion show. She then opened 3.1 Phillip Lim. She is known for her distinct eyebrows. I am excited to see her do more editorial. I think her eye brows definitely box her in to a particular look but designers like Roberto Cavalli and even DSquared could have fun with her look. I'm ready for her to be packaged and branded, because that's the only way for her not to become a one off model. I do think she can eventually pull it off. Lets see...

Fantasy- Noah Mills

Ladies, hopefully this eye candy will get you through your day. American Noah Mills is the go to male model for Dolce and Gabana, Michael Kors and Bottega Veneta. He turned heads with his runway debut on Gucci and YSL runways, and his name began to pick up steam in the much remembered Dolce and Gabanna ad campaign photographed by Steven Miesel. He is a MosaMuse favorite and we thank him for not following that toothpick male model phase! When can that officially come to an end? Anyway, we are ready to see more editorial with Noah and even a transition into film. Romantic comedies? Above is a shot of him for V mag by Mario Testino.

Fresh Face- Lais Ribeiro

Lais Ribeiro is a Brazilian beauty who made her way onto the pages Brazilian Elle in the fall of 2009. She then found herself on the runways of Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren the following season. She has become a go to runway model for all the top designers because she is known for her height and long legs. She has walked for Versace, Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Dior, Michael Kors, Roberto Cavalli, Hermes and the list goes on and on. I'm interested in seeing her in more editorial. She has a look similar to Liya so lets see how far that takes her.
